 2024 YMIC Maestro Carnegie Debut Audition 

Before applying form, please read the full guidelines below. Failure to do so will result in an ineligible application submission. 

ONLINE APPLICATION INFORMATION 

• Deadline: Saturday, May 18, 2024

(1) Complete online application; (2) Provide a YouTube link of *video recording; (3) Pay application fee through PayPal. 

• The 2024 YMIC Maestro Carnegie Debut Audition is an international level audition. 

• The audition is open to instrumentalists and chamber groups of all nationalities from age 6 to 22 years old. 

• A copy of the birth certificate or passport for proof of age must be submitted. 

 

AWARD 

• Up to 5 Grand prize winners will be invited to perform at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1 PM. 

 

RESULTS 

• Results will be announced Friday, May 31, 2024. YMIC decisions are final, no exceptions. Please check our website for the results announcement. 

• Certificates will be provided but there will be no comments sheets. 

• The decision of the jury is final and will not be subjected to reviews or appeals. 

 

APPLICATION FEE 

• Solo (Piano, String, Wind/Brass) application and processing fee: $55 (non-refundable) 

• Chamber application and processing fee: $45 per applicant (non-refundable) 

○ All chamber fees must be submitted together. 

• Confirmation emails will be automatically sent to the parent's email address once the application is submitted. If it does not appear in your inbox, we advise to double check whether it went into your junk or spam box. 

AUDITION RECORDINGS

• Please submit an unedited recording of one movement or one piece, maximum 7 minutes. The recording must be no more than 8 months old. If the video time length is longer than 7 minutes, it will not be accepted.

YouTube Video Naming Rules: 

- Title: 2024 YMIC Maestro Carnegie Debut Audition – Instrument, Full Title of piece, Movement, Full Composer Name 

- Description box: Grade, date/year of recording (this information should NOT be in the title) 

- If the information for the title does not all fit due to character limit, please include the remainder of the title in the description box. 

Example of Correct Video Title: 2024 YMIC Maestro Carnegie Debut Audition - Piano, Sonatina op.55 No.1, 1st mvt, Friedrich Kuhlau 

Example of Incorrect Video Title: “Jane Doe – Piano, Sonatina op.55, No.1, Kuhlau” 

● Videos must be taken horizontally. 

● Save/publish the video’s visibility to UNLISTED 

● Videos will not be accepted if they are not titled/described accordingly. 

● Participants’ face, hands, feet with pedals as well as keyboard/instrument, must be visible for the entirety of the video. 

● Piano and String will require memorization. For all other instruments, memorization is recommended but not required. 

● Video recording MUST be a one-take; editing, such as cutting and merging multiple takes, is prohibited.  

● Formal and appropriate attire must be worn, otherwise, the video will not be accepted. 

● Piano accompaniment is required for all pieces that have an existing accompanying part.

• Piano Chamber - duet/trio/quartet (on 1 piano) 

• Other Chamber - duet/trio/quartet/quintet (any combination of piano, strings, winds, guitar)
